Tannins will give your water that tea-coloured look. Surface water is prone to this and Central Okanagan area water is no exception. Variations from season to season makes it difficult to predict and also to remove. Using a traditional tannin filter will fix the problem but you must know your water before you treat it. This will prevent situations where one problem is fixed but another is introduced, e.g. tannin filters can lower the pH by up to 10%.

Even treated water can exceed Health Canada prescribed limits. Did you know that turbidity levels can often exceed 1.0 NTU in many areas of the Okanagan? Municipal boil water advisories may not be issued until turbidity reaches 5.0 NTU. Having your water tested through-out the year puts you in the driver seat.
