How do I make changes to my filter settings?

Select the appropriate control head and follow the instructions located here

When do I add salt to the brine tank?

Do not allow the brine tank to become empty. When you see the salt levels drop to a couple inches from the bottom of the tank its time to add salt. Not too much though, see below.

How much salt should I put into the brine tank?

Do not place too much salt in the brine tank. You want to avoid what's called a "salt bridge" from forming. This is a hardened layer of salt that forms a barrier between the water and fresh salt. This will prevent proper mixing. To avoid this phenomenon, keep salt levels below the water line at all times. Do not add more than 2 x 20kg bags worth of salt at any one time. The weight of too much salt can also assist in creating the salt bridge.

How often should I change my "Big Blue" filters?

Check these filters once every 3 months initially. Depending on the quality of water coming into the home you may need to adjust your inspection cycle but 3 months is a good starting point. If you need replacement sediment/charcoal filters contact us and we will get them to you!

Tip: to make removing these filter housings easier the next time, use food-grade silicon or vegetable/olive oil on the O-rings prior to re-installing the filter housing.

How often should I change my RO filters/membrane?

Reverse Osmosis filters should be replaced once a year, however, this will depend on the quality of water entering the system. You may need to replace filters more frequently in heavy filtering scenarios. All filters in the RO system should be replaced at once. If you need replacement filters/membranes contact us and we will get them to you!

How often should I change my UV lamp and sleeve?

UV sterilization lamps should be once per year. At that time the sleeve should be cleaned. Replace the sleeve every 3 years or if damaged / cannot be cleaned. If you need replacement lamps/sleeves contact us and we will get them to you!

What pH is ok for my water?

Anything above 6.5 is going to be ok for your home. Ideally, your pH should be between 6.8-7.5. If your water is consistently outside this range, contact us.

Why does my water smells fishy?

There may be some residual chemicals from the manufacturing process still remaining on the filter resin. Place 2 cups of pure citric acid powder in the brine tank and preform a regen. Then change your regen cycle to 1 day less than its currently set. Instructions located here. Make sure to drain your hot water tank as well if you have one. If this does not fix the issue, contact us.
